Hjordís took her first fusion belly dance class in 2010 with Caroline Huxtable, director of B3. In May 2013, she began classes with Jo Boring. From there the Lunachix were born and Hjordís still dances with them under the name "The Enforcer". She dove into Hot Pot style ITS with Jo Boring and the rest of the Lunachix in the early summer of 2015.
Most recently Hjordís has fallen in love with an improvisational style of fusion bellydance called Fly Fusion, created by the wonderful Violet Kind. Hjordis is currently certified as a Fly Fusion Foundations (level 1) instructor and is currently working toward her Metamorphosis (level 2) certification.
Early on Hjordís had a love for swords. The first time she picked one up for dancing it felt so natural. At first she worked on her own with her swords and some DVDs. Later on Hjordís was able to grab opportunities to study with Belladonna Boheme, Silvia Salamanca, Sabine, and Wendy Bhagwati Broadway. She has received her Level 1 Apprentice and Level 2 Technician sword certifications with Belladonna, along with completing the Dangerous Swords intensive with Sabine in 2017.
Hjordís has been on a journey to discover and create her own sword style for both single, double, and multiple swords as well as sword dancing with a partner.
Another teacher that has greatly influenced her dancing is Jill Parker. Hjordis is currently participating in her program "Alchemy: The Science, Craft, and Sorcery of Belly Dance".
Hjordís is also certified through the Foundations Teacher Training (FTT) program with Wendy Bhagwati Broadway.
She has also incorporated her love of sewing into her dancing. She regularly makes her own costumes and other items used for both dance and everyday life. She currently sells her items and takes custom orders.
Hjordís performs nationally and internationally as a soloist, member of the Lunachix, and as director of her student troupe Dreki Dansari. Hjordís is also available for performances, parties, events, group and weekly classes as well as private lessons, offering both in person and online options. She also performs at non-profit organization events and fundraisers. Contact her today for more information!
